Hi Nikole,
Thank you for writing to us here in the Microsoft community.
I just want to let you know that Microsoft Loop is still beta there are still some functions that have issue, missing or misbehave. I understand that you want to import data from an XLS table into Loop and use it as a Loop component. You mentioned that you don’t want to insert the link of the existing file due to access rights to that source. You also tried to copy/paste the XLS content into a Loop table, but the table is getting too wide, and you lose oversight.
One option you can consider is to use the Import Table feature in Loop. This feature allows you to import data from a CSV file into a Loop table. Here are the steps to follow:
- Save your XLS table as a CSV file. To do this, open the XLS file in Excel, click on File, then Save As, and select CSV (Comma delimited) as the file type.
- Open the Loop workspace where you want to import the data.
- Click on the + button to add a new component, then select Table.
- In the table editor, click on the Import Table button.
- Select the CSV file you saved in step 1.
- Map the columns in the CSV file to the columns in the Loop table.
- Click on Import to import the data.
This will create a new Loop table with the data from your XLS table. You can then use this table as a component in other Loop documents.
If you’re still having trouble with the table layout size, you can try adjusting the column widths in the Loop table editor. To do this, click on the column header and drag it to the desired width. You can also adjust the row height by clicking on the row header and dragging it to the desired height.
If you’re still having trouble, I would highly suggest submitting feedback using feedback hub. Here is the link where you can submit it: Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app - Microsoft Support.
Hope this helps.
