OneNote Not Displaying Tabs Layout option!

I am running OneNote (Office 365), Version 2309 (Monthly Enterprise Channel) on two computers currently, both running Windows 10.

On my old desktop, I have the horizontal tabs layout:

And on my new Dell Laptop, I have the Vertical tabs layout:

The issue I have here is that on both machines, the View > Tab Layout option to switch between Horizontal and Vertical tabs is completely missing! How is it possible that the version of OneNote that I'm currently running is capable of supporting both tab layouts but DOES NOT provide me with the option to switch? I would like to restore the horizontal layout for my new laptop, but I'm not able to. Please help!

Thank you,

Faris

    Dear Faris,

Good day! Thank you for posting your query in our community.

Based on your description, you want to revert back to horizontal tabs in OneNote.

A few days ago, a user in our forum encountered a same issue as yours, OneNote on his computer has the Vertical tabs layout which is the same as that on your new computer, and he doesn't have Tab Layout option under the View tab. He finially resolved the problem through the latest Office updates. You can refer to this thread: No option to revert back to horizontal tabs - Microsoft Community.

Given this situation, we assume the problem may be related to the specific version of OneNote. You can try to update your OneNote to the below version:

I prefer and use the horizontal layout of onenote on my desktop and phone, however, when I use onenote in a teams channel it opens in vertical view by default. The instructions for switching the onenote layout between horizontal and vertical view that are listed online (view>tabs layout>horizontal/vertical) do not exist when the onenote app is embedded in a Microsoft Teams channel. Can you help guide me through how to change the layout view of onenote to horizontal when it's embedded in a Teams channel?

    Thanks!
