Quick start page

Is there a way to create a quick start page on sharepoint? Here is what I am looking to do.

This would be for first time users:

  1. The user would get onto the sharepoint site homepage
  2. As soon as they have access to page a light gray cover comes over the entire site in order to highlight key tabs and what they do
  3. The user can press a continue button to advance to the next tab/highlighted information
  4. Once all the information has been displayed, the light gray cover is taken off and the site functions as normal

This would help in pointing new users to what each of the tabs would do. Any thoughts?

This sounds a little over elaborate and probably not feasible unless you know of a way for Sharepoint to identify a new user? If you feel first time users need training in using a web site, perhaps you could create a new user page and include a link to that in your onboarding materials.

    Dear E. Mowery,

    Good day!!

I understand your concern and to my knowledge, there is no out of the box feature in the SharePoint Online or Microsoft 365 to achieve your requirement.

I agree with you having the ability to create a Quick Start page when users access the SharePoint Online Home page for the first time will benefit the users and I suggest you to add your valuable idea as feedback in the SharePoint · Community (microsoft.com) which is the best place to share our ideas and improve the Microsoft products.

Moreover, I think you can achieve your requirement with the help of CSS code or other scripting and in this situation, I request you to post your concern in the related Microsoft community i.e., Questions - Microsoft Q&A with SharePoint Development tag to get the detailed help from the experts.

Apologies for redirecting you to a different community as the members in the category posted focus on the users with the out-of-the box concerns and have limited knowledge on in the scripting, so to get the fast and better assistance, we have redirected you to the correct community.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
