    Dear SK,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and since you mentioned you are having no issues when opening the PDF files in the OneDrive synced folder in the browser and the trustworthy error appears when you open them in the PDF application, I would like to confirm whether the same problem happens when you open the PDF files stored in the local drive such as Desktop, Documents etc.

If there is no issue with opening the PDFs stored in the local drive of your computer, then I would like to suggest you reset the OneDrive sync client and check the outcome: Reset OneDrive - Microsoft Support

If the problem happens even after resetting the OneDrive sync client, I would like to request you to change the location of your OneDrive synced folder by following the below steps:

Step 1: Click on the OneDrive icon in the Windows task bar> Help & Settings> Settings> Account> Make sure to unlink any Office 365 account connected to OneDrive sync including personal OneDrive.

Step 2: Restart your PC> Open the OneDrive> Sign-in with your Office 365 account details> Make sure to select the New Location instead of choosing Use this folder> Setup your account and see the outcome.

If the same problem happens, see whether adding the OneDrive synced folder to the trusted path in your PDF application. If you are using Adobe Acrobat, please follow the below steps:

Open the PDF application> Click on the Menu at the top left> Security (Enhanced)> Add Folder Path> Choose your OneDrive for Business synced folder> Click OK> Click OK to save the changes.

If still there is no success, we are apologize and would like to confirm the following information which will help us to better understand and guide you further:

    1. Does the problem happens even with the new PDF files?
    2. If you have any chance to use different PDF application, do you encounter the same error?
    3. OneDrive sync client version: Click on the OneDrive icon in the Windows taskbar> Click on the Help & Settings> Settings> About.

Our sincere apologies for not resolving the problem in the first reply but answers to the above queries will help us to better understand and guide you further.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,
    Sophia

I dont have any issue opening PDF files in my desktop as they will open up in a browser.

The only issue is when I go to sharepoint and try to open the PDF in app then it goes to Onedrive and gives that error.

    I tried resetting the one-drive.

I tried unlink the one-drive and re login and change the location but still the error is same.

I have the one drive version Build 23.209.1008.0002 (64 Bit).

I dont use any PDF application, the point is when I try to open the PDF in app it gives me the error.

Is there any way to disable that because we have uploaded it and we know it is trust worth already.

I have checked all the options but still there is no luck.

    Need your help.

    Dear SK,

Thanks for writing back and updating with us. Apologies for the inconvenience in the previous reply since we thought you are encountering the prompt when you try to open the PDF files from the synced library of File Explorer.

As per the further updates, I would like to convey that I have tested the behavior at my end, where I can reproduce the same behavior when I try to open the PDF from the SharePoint Online via Open in app:

Note: I have done test in the new device as well, where I encounter the same behavior.

To my knowledge, the behavior isn’t caused due to the settings in the SharePoint Online because the same behavior is happening in the new SharePoint Online and new installation of OneDrive sync client.

In this situation, we are sorry and I recommend you to connect with the related development team via creating a new service request from the Microsoft 365 admin center, where they can collect the related logs by reproducing the problem and investigate the issue further.

Reference: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

Note: To create a support ticket, you need to have admin privileges and if you aren’t admin of your Office 365 organization, please contact the admin of creating a new ticket. How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

As a workaround, I would like to suggest you to sync the document library of the SharePoint Online to your computer and try to open the PDF files from the synced folder of your File Explorer.

Appreciate your patience and understanding with us. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,
    Sophia
