Url Link not working in the android sharepoint app.

Hey Guys, I made an sharepoint site and created some Url links to open some google and Microsoft forms. These links work fine on the laptops and iphones when using the sharepoint app. However, when using them, on an android phone it is a whole different story as it does not let you open the link through a web browser but instead give you the options to open it up with a random app on your phone like gallery, Samsung health etc. Any ideas on how to fix this? P.S It works fine on the android phone if you open the sharepoint through a web browser and not through the app.

    Hi there,

I have been building a site for a mobile team with a large library of links, just to find that they cannot open it from their andriod devices. Is this something you all are working on? Quick links aren't searchable in the appropriate way, we need to be able to have libraries with links or what is the point of having that as an option. SOS, we have 3000 team members that cannot open these links.

    Dear Randy Orton,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and I would like to convey that I have tested the behavior at my end, by adding the Google and Microsoft Forms links as URLs in the Document Library of the SharePoint Online site, where I can reproduce the similar problem when I try to open the URLs in the document library via SharePoint application on the Android device.

However, when the same links are added as a links in the Quick Links webpart of the SharePoint Online site page, the Links are opened without any issue via SharePoint application on the Android device.

Moreover, the only workaround I found to open the added URLs in the Document Library via SharePoint app on Android device is via below steps:

Open the SharePoint Online site in the SharePoint app on Android device> Click on the Navigation Pane (three horizontal lines beside Home)> Site Contents> Click on the Document Library with the URLs> Click on the URL> If you are prompted with Open With window, please click on the outside Open with window, so the URL will open in the SharePoint app itself.

I agree the workaround is not an efficient solution but I am sharing the results I found during my tests (apologies for any inconvenience caused). In this situation, I believe the problem should be further investigated by the related development team where they will collect thee related logs by reproducing the problem at your end and do the further investigation.

So, I request you to connect with your IT admin of your organization (How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support) and raise a new service request from the Microsoft 365 admin center so that the related development team will connect with you and investigate the issue further.

Note: We apologize for redirecting you to related development support team because the moderators in this community are limited with the resource for further investigation and to get a quick resolution to your problem, we requested it.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,
    Sophia
