Planner Premium - colleagues with no licence cannot view plan or update tasks

Hello,

I have a Project Plan 3 license. I have 3 team members. One has Planner Plan 1, the other have no licences.

I created a Premium Plan for my team.

None of my team members can access the plan via the Planner app in Microsoft Teams. They do see the tasks assigned to them in the "My Tasks - Assigned to me" view but they cannot do ANY actions to it - mark complete, change the status, etc. See the print screen for the error message they get. I thought team members without a Planner Plan 1/Project Plan 3 or 5 could still see the basic view of Premium Plans and update certain items. How can this be fixed or if are Microsoft aware this is an issue?

I also cannot add my Premium Plan to our Teams channel using the Planner app. Instead, I can only do it using the Project app. However, my team members cannot view the plan because they do not have a project subscription. When will this be fixed?

Thanks,

Sim

Hi Sim,

I can reproduce the same situation. The members will still need a "Project for Office" license to have basic edit access for Premium Planner plans. I'm afraid this is not a problem, but a normal situation. It's by design. The tenant admin needs to purchase or assign the relevant subscription to users.

Note that the "Project for Office" license is not equal to Project Plans (Project Plan 1, Project Plan 3, or Project Plan 5).  "Project for Office" is included in Microsoft 365 for business, Microsoft F3, Microsoft E1, E3, and E5, giving users access to any functionality where Microsoft Project and Microsoft Planner for Web overlap.

For your reference:

Office 365 subscription with basic edit access

Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Hi Sim MUB

Thanks for the heads up. Wasn't aware that option "Project for Office" cold be enabled/disabled. Thought it is active all time. Unfortunately this option was enabled already. In my case didn't didn't do the trick.

    Hello George and MS friends,

Just checking in to see if there is a resolution here.

Inability to get basic updates and views for your team members basically renders the product useless. However, if this can be fixed, I think it has great potential for project managers using Office 365 products to manage their teams.

Looking forward to using this in the future if we can resolve it.

    Many thanks,

    -Mike
