Trapped in MS authenticator credentials loop on a personal account (Office for Mac)

I have both a personal and work account. I am currently locked out of my personal account because I cannot authenticate using MS authenticator. I never set up authenticator for my personal account. When I try to add my personal account information on authenticator, it requires me to validate my credentials via... you guessed it... MS authenticator. I have tried everything, including filling out the detailed authentication recovery form twice. Now I am locked for another 24 hours because I submitted more than two forms. This is infuriating. I cannot win. please help. Also I am on a mac.

    Dear Ian McGonnigal

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are currently having issues with Authenticator.

Unfortunately, issues related to Authenticator are outside the scope of support on the Microsoft forum. There is a special section in Microsoft Learn for this issue that is designed to support authenticator users like you.

Here is a link Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Q&A to the forum where you can address specifics and share your ideas on how to solve the problem.

Even though I can't help you, I hope that the information I have provided will help you find a better direction.

I will keep this issue on file in case our great volunteers have any ideas for you.

    Yours sincerely,

Cece-MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
