Hello

Can we use the Change directory Option to transfer a Visual Studio Professional Subscription -MSDN to a New AD Tenant?

Hi @Jain Navin Kumar • Thank you for reaching out.

Yes, you can transfer Azure Visual Studio Pro MSDN subscription from one Azure AD tenant to another tenant, as this subscription is not restricted to be used with any specific tenant. As long as you have subscription owner rights and have Global Admin access on both the existing and the new tenant, that you want to move the subscription to, you can change directory for the subscription.

After transferring the subscription to the new tenant, you can still use the account (usually MSA or work account) to deactivate/disable the subscription via Visual Studio Subscription portal.

Once the Subscription is Transferred to the New Tenant, Will it be possible to move specific resources eg virtual machines to a different CSP Subscription on the Target Tenant.

Thanks, Yes i got that but on the Target Tenant, I need to merge some resources from the Visual Studio MSDN subscription to an existing CSP Subscription. Will l be able to move selected resources ?

What if you don't have Global Admin rights on the source tenant but do have Global Admin rights on the destination tenant?

I have a VS Pro subscription provided by my day job, but I need to move it to another tenant to complete an AZ-400 lab as part of training for my day job [1]. Getting formal authorization to do this from my current employer may not be worth the hassle.

NOTE: My understanding of the VSPro Subscription was that it was supposed to help individuals learn Azure, but if I'm forced to use it in a tenant where I don't have Microsoft Entra Global Admin rights, then it seems my ability to learn will be restricted in some ways.

[1] - To be frank, I think the AZ-400 training might be a bit premature for me, but I was instructed to train on Azure Devops and AZ-400 was the closest match I could find in Microsoft Learn.

Hi @AmanpreetSingh-MSFT i have created a new directory and transferred my visual studio professional subscription to the new directory. after one year there was issue in login to new directory with authenticator app so i deleted new director account in authenticator. now i am unable to login to new director in azure.
