Hello, by mistake I changed the admin email domain (@onmicrosoft) to our personal domain and now I cannot log back in the Microsoft 365 admin portal. How do I regain access?

    Hello User-1995**,**

Good day!! Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft community.

As you have changed the primary domain which was used to be the default domain as in @onmicrosoft, there should not be any problem accessing your admin portal.

To better understand the issue, I need your help on sending all the answers along with the data. So that we can get on the same page and resolve the issue together:

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing. Here are some steps you can take to regain access to your Microsoft 365 admin portal.

Make sure the domain you changed into has been setup accordingly: Add and replace your onmicrosoft.com fallback domain in Microsoft 365 - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn.

Use another admin account: If you have another admin account in your organization, you can use it to reset the password of the locked account.

Also, by using another global admin you can change the primary domain address for your account to the default one.

Reference: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.

Reset your password: If you cannot remember the password for the global administrator account, you can reset it. Here’s how:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 login page: https://login.microsoftonline.com
      • Click on "Forgot password?"
      • Follow the instructions to reset your password. This typically involves verifying your identity through a secondary email address or a phone number associated with the account.

Contact Microsoft Support: If you are unable to reset your password or regain access using the above steps, you can contact Microsoft Support directly. They have processes in place to help you recover access to your admin account.

Verify domain ownership: If you've already associated your personal domain with Microsoft 365 and need to verify domain ownership, follow the instructions provided by Microsoft. This often involves adding a TXT or MX record to your domain's DNS settings.

Check DNS settings: Ensure that your personal domain's DNS settings are correctly configured according to Microsoft's requirements. This includes MX records for email routing and TXT records for domain verification.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

If neither of these step's work, please let me know and we can explore other options.

Thanks for choosing the MS community.

Looking forward to your response and have a great day ahead!!

    Sincerely
