I try to install the MathType addin into Word under my own account (not an education account). In Word, but it forces me to sign in with an education account ******@ad.unsw.edu.au. which I do not know where it comes from.

How do I upload a screenshot to this question to show what I mean?

It's offered as an add-in from the Microsoft Store. I just installed it without issue but it's only a 30 day trial.:

    Hello Alexander,

    * I am a Microsoft user like you, providing solutions to community members; I am NOT a Microsoft employee.

That sounds frustrating! Here are a couple of things you can try to resolve the MathType installation issue in Word:

    1. Check Installation Options: MathType Website: Visit the official MathType website and explore the installation options for individual users. There might be a separate download for non-educational accounts. Word Add-Ins Menu: Open a new Word document and go to the "Insert" tab. Click on "Add-Ins" and then "Get Add-ins." Search for MathType and see if there's a version available for individual purchase or trial.
    2. Remove Conflicting Login Information: Windows Credentials: It's possible that Windows stores login credentials related to a previous educational MathType installation. Try clearing your Windows credentials for Microsoft Office or MathType:

Open the Control Panel (search for it in the Start menu). Navigate to "User Accounts" and then "Credential Manager." Look for credentials related to Microsoft Office or MathType and remove them. Check Your Browser: In some cases, your browser might be holding onto login information that's causing the issue. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies, especially for any pages related to MathType or educational institutions.

    1. Contact MathType Support: If the above solutions don't work, reach out to MathType support directly (https://www.wiris.com/contact-us/). Explain the issue you're facing with the education account prompt during installation for your personal account. They might have specific troubleshooting steps or alternative download options for individual users.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Stephen,

Thanks very much for your help. I just went back to start up Word first before installing MathType, and I noticed that it was under my daughter's account. She was indeed a student at the University of NSW before. But I have already upgraded my Microsoft Office to Office 365 for Mac, and I do not know how the two versions of Office (365 vs the previous one off Office) got mixed up. Once I logged out of my daughter's account, Word immediately reverted back to my account and then the installation of MathType went smoothly as per normal.

    Thanks again.

    Alex

    Hi Jim,

MathType is still available for Office 365 running on an iMac. I have just resolved the issue myself and installed MathType smoothly in Word.

    Thanks.

    Alex.
