MS Query is available but not working in Excel after a recent update to office

I have updated my options by going to File/Options/Data and marking the flag "from Microsoft Query Legacy". However when I select the legacy options under Data/Get Data/Legacy Wizards, MS Query is in the list however it's grayed out. When I select the grayed out option, Excel goes into a wait state and nothing happens. I cannot figure out how to have the option enabled so it works.

I also don't have the option for "from Microsoft Query" in my "all commands" when trying to customize the ribbon.

As a alternative attempt at solving the issue, I completely reinstalled office, uninstalled using the command prompt application SaRACmd, deleting the cache folders, deleting registry keys, etc. I attempted to completely remove office from my computer. I reinstalled and have the same issue as described above.

So the issue is how do I get the MS Query app enabled again? I did find the executable for MS query and can run a query standalone but cannot send the results directly to Excel. Please advise. Thanks.

From your description, It seems other software makes your From Microsoft Query stuck. You may try stopping other software.

You may also try creating a query from PBI and copy the query code to Excel on a new blank query.

    Here is mine.

Thanks for responding. I don't know what you mean by stopping other software. My computer has the legacy wizard just as you show (microsoft query) but it's grayed out. When I select, Excel goes into a wait state and shows "waiting for data to be returned from Microsoft query" as shown below. Why is MS Query grayed out? It's installed as I can ran it stand alone but when running stand alone, I cannot export the data directly to Excel. Please advise. Thanks.

I'd suggest you create a support ticket to Microsoft.

Please contact your admin/IT department create a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. Support team there will have the correct channel and resources to help you investigate more and find what exactly the reason has caused this situation.
