Auto save problem

My auto save is turned on and checked in options.

Until a few days ago, anytime I opened a file from file explorer and open any file.

When I did, the upper left autosave would automatically turn on.

Now it doesn't and if I turn it on. If I click on the turn on autosave, instead of saving the current file, it shows one drive making a copy "file name xxxx (1)" vice original "file name xxxx."

    Dear KimLong5,

Thanks for your reply and for sharing updates with us. I really appreciate your effort and your precious time.

Recently, we received reports from other community members that they encounter the same situation when autosave is turned off. The issue has been reported to Microsoft and they are investigating.

Meanwhile, considering that different users from different organizations are experiencing the same issue, I'm afraid this issue could be a temporary server-side issue that needs to be investigated and fixed from the back end.

I would suggest you raise a support ticket from the Microsoft 365 admin center and report the issue to the related team. The more reports they receive from different customers, the more likely they will be able to find something that affects users in common, do an investigation, and fix it soon.

Note: To create a support ticket, you need to have Microsoft 365 admin privileges and if you aren’t an admin of your Office 365 organization, please contact the admin to create a new ticket.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Dear KimLong5,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community. We are delighted to offer our assistance.

Only files saved in OneDrive could use the AutoSave feature. If you open a file saved in a local folder, when you turn on AutoSave, a copy of this file will be uploaded to OneDrive automatically. You are always making changes to the files in OneDrive with AutoSave on.

If you have been operating in a OneDrive sync folder and are experiencing this issue, there may be a problem with the local client. Please first make sure that your files have been properly saved, then reset OneDrive: Reset OneDrive - Microsoft Support.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Have a great day.

    Sincerely,

    Sean | Microsoft Community Moderator

Open via the File Explorer OneDrive folder or eg Word > Recent docs

You are not opening a OneDrive located doc
