SharePoint Lists - Created by column missing

Dear MS Community

It seems as though a standardised column 'Created by' was deleted from a microsoft list. This is a particularly useful column with automated data to capture who made an entry for a line in lists. Unfortunately it is no longer available to add in list settings. I can manually create a column, where users add this information manually, but there seems to be no way to reintsate the 'created by column' with automatic data feed from meta data.

Is there a way to reinstate this?

Many thanks
Kate

    Dear Kate,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and to my knowledge, I would like to convey that Created By column is default column in the SharePoint Online List or Library, where it’s not possible to either delete or remove from the List or Library in the site but we can hide from the displaying it in the SharePoint List/Library view.

So, I request you to access the view in the problematic List and see whether the Created By column is unchecked in the View:

Open the problematic List> Settings> List Settings> Scroll down to Views> Click on the View where there is no Created By column> See whether the Created by is unchecked at the Columns> If yes, please enabled it and save the view to check the outcome.

If the Created by is displaying in the List Settings and it’s also checked in the View of the List but it’s not showing in the List, I would like to request you to access the List in the InPrivate or Incognito window of the browser and check the outcome.

If there is no success, we are sorry and I believe the problem should be further investigated by the related development team, where they can collect the HAR logs while reproducing the problem and perform further investigation.

Note: I have checked the service health dashboard at the Microsoft end, where there is no related incident found.

So, I request you to connect with your IT admin of your organization (How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support) and raise a new service request from the Microsoft 365 admin center so that the related development team will connect with you and investigate the issue further.

Note: We apologize for redirecting you to related development support team because the moderators in this community are limited with the resource for further investigation and to get a quick resolution to your problem, we requested it.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,
    Sophia
