I need help with authenticator

I have 3 different microsoft accounts. And I use authenticator.

One of the accounts gives me a one time password code in authenticator (8 digits). When I try and login I am asked to use a verification code. The 8 digit code does not work, it is looking for a 6 digit verification code. How do I change authenticator to give me a 6 digit verification code?

Or even easier, how do I login with a password?

I have been struggling with this for ages!!

Chris

    Hello Chris**,**

Good day! Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft community.

Based on your description what I understand is that you have three Microsoft accounts and use the Microsoft Authenticator app. One of your accounts is generating an 8-digit code, but when logging in, you are prompted to enter a 6-digit verification code.

You are looking to either configure the Authenticator app to generate the correct 6-digit code or find a way to log in with your password instead.

However, there is another specific channel for your mentioned concern where you will get some possible information for certain specific resources and platform from our related community members.

For assistance with this specific issue, I recommend reaching out to the dedicated Microsoft Authenticator community, where experts can provide specialized support. They will guide you on how to configure your app or explore other login options.

Since your problem is related to authenticator app, I would also like to suggest you post your concern in the related community i.e., Ask a question - "Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Q&A" to get the detailed help from the experts.

For more information, you may also check this MS article: Microsoft Authenticator FAQs - Microsoft Support.

Apologies for redirecting you to different community as the members in the category posted focus on the users with out of the box concerns on Microsoft 365 and have limited knowledge on the Microsoft Authenticator; so, to get the fast and better assistance, we have redirected you in the correct path.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    S M Nazmun Nur
