Automate button is grayed out

Hello,

I have not changed any setting but I can no longer trigger my automations because the "Automate" button in Sharepoint list is suddenly grayed out and not clickable.

I don't remember changing anything in the settings so I cannot think of the reason why it's suddenly unusable.

Does anyone know the solution to this issue?

Would be glad if you could share, thank you!

Dear ウォン,

Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and I would like to let you know that the possible reason for the Automate option to be grayed out because of Item-level permissions of the problematic List is set as below:

In this situation, I would like to request you to check the Item Level Permissions of the problematic List and see whether the settings are set as above:

Open the problematic List> Settings> List Settings> Advanced Settings> Check the Item-level permissions.

If they are set as above screenshot, please change the Item-level permissions to the “Read all items” & “Create and edit all items”:

Note: If you want to keep Create items and edit items that were created by the user, you can leave it as it is but make sure to set the item level permission to Read all items.

Open the problematic List> Settings> List Settings> Advanced Settings> Change Item Level Permissions> Click OK to save the List Settings> Re-open your List to check the outcome:

If still the same problem persists, I would like to request you to share the screenshots Versioning and Advanced Settings of the problematic List and working List to see whether there are any differences.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

Best Regards,

Sophia

    Hi Sophia,

Thank you for the solution you shared!

As a background, we have to set the Read access, and Create and Edit access only to the user who registered the item in the Sharepoint list due to personal information handling constraints. Hence, the current setting.

As a follow up question, I would like to ask whether there was a change in the policy since we were able to use the Automation function before even with the current setting.

Also, is there a different solution so that Automation function will be usable even with the current setting we have?

Would love to hear regarding from you regarding the above matters as well.

    Regards.

    Dear ウォン,

Thanks for writing back and updating with us. Apologies for the delay in the response.

As per the further updates, it seems like you are not having the Edit permissions on the complete List, where the users with the Edit or higher than Edit permissions can go to the List Settings and modify the settings in the Version Settings.

So, I request you to connect with the users who are having the Edit permissions or the owner of the site to check the settings in the Versioning Settings of the problematic List.

Appreciate your efforts with us and have a wonderful day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia

    Hi Sophia,

    Thank you for your reply!

It seems like I am not able to navigate/unable to find mentioned settings.

Is it because I do not have site owner rights?

Is this setting only available to site owners?

    Regards,

    ウォン
