Excel error

    Based on your screenshot, I’m afraid and sorry to say this workbook might be corrupt due to some unknown reasons. In that case, I suggest you can try to check whether you can open this Excel workbook in Excel Online or try to repair this workbook by following the steps in this support article: Repair a corrupted workbook - Microsoft Support.

    If you cannot open it online or unable to repair it. Due to this situation, I’m afraid this issue needs to be investigated from back end to find the cause**. The support team has higher permission to remotely assist you and collect background logs for the root cause.** This is a more efficient way in handling this case for you.

    If you are an admin, I recommend you get support by following steps from this link: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn.

    May I confirm you mention it doesn’t want to open from your computer, is there any error message pop-up when you open the file? If yes, Please provide a screenshot of any error messages.

    the error message it popes as just mentioned it is the following:

    Since you mention when you open an old version which shared with you, it pop-up with an error message. Could you please provide a screenshot of this error message as well?

    it dosent pop up a message when i open the old version that was send to me by email from my college. however i cant open the new one that was saved on my computer and had the edits i made.

    May I confirm whether the issue happens to all your files or this specific file?

    just this file.

    May I confirm the version number of Excel (File > Account > About Excel) you are using with? Please provide a screenshot of your Excel version number in the same format as the screenshot below:
