Can you please advise what, why and how this has happened?
There are only 2,400 task items in here of which are in the below status;

1,725 not started

675 in progress

0 Late

167 Completed

    Environment:

    Office 365 for business.   

    Microsoft Planner

    Suggestion:

    Split the plan by moving some of the tasks to a newly created plan and we also encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions through our feedback community under Planner · Community (microsoft.com). To let the product development team know your needs and help improve our products and services.

    Meanwhile, if you can understand my explanation and correct direction information about this entire scenario, I would like to request you to provide a valuable vote in above mentioned reply so that other users can understand the whole situation.

    Unfortunately, your plan seems to have reach the limit for Maximum active tasks in a plan. Microsoft Planner limits - Microsoft Planner | Microsoft Learn

    We understand that this limitation can be frustrating, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. The only viable workaround I could come up with at the moment would be for you to split the plan by moving some of the tasks to a newly created plan. We value your understanding, and I also agree with you that increasing the limit would be a great improvement to the features in Planner.
