Getting a white idpinitiatedsignon.htm page

I installed a new 2016 ADFS farm. I installed a wildcard certificate on the farm. I can browse to idpinitiatedsignon.htm, and the certificate shows that it is valid, but rather than getting the expect blue, swirly forms page I get a white background with this information jammed in the right upper corner.

If I change back to the self issued certificate, the forms page is displayed, however the certificate is not valid because it is not issued by a certificate authority.

How do I fix this?

You installed the wildcard certificate as pfx file? So the private key is included and will be installed too.
Do you see warnings/error in windows event log which indicate the root cause?

FYI I've seen situations like these when it was a:

HTTP proxy issue (blocking the CSS)

Browser issue (incorrectly handling the CSS because of Internet Settings) - have not seen this one in a while though

Custom JavaScript configuration going wrong - but you don't mention any here
