Problems with Microsoft Authenticator

Every time I try to log into Microsoft Authenticator, I can not get past the initial biometrics screen. I've been getting push notifications for my email accounts associated with the apps, but for other apps (like github), I'm not able to get into the app. The app scans my biometrics, "unlocks", then shows a black screen and doesn't do anything.

I've tried clearing my cache for the app in the android settings app but that doesn't seem to help either. I also tried using only mobile data and a protected Wi-Fi network which still doesn't seem like it worked. I feel like I've tried everything but nothing is working, which is an issue so I might have to switch to another authenticator like Duo or Google's.
