And how did you install it?
Data Validation not working on existing workbook/can't create new
I opened a workbook from Windows with some cells with data validation on my Mac. The pulldown doesn't.
I tried to edit the validation. Got an error. "This can't be applied to the selected range. Select a single cell in a range and try again."
I tried to create a new workbook with a cell for data validation. Same problem.

Any thoughts?

2025-04-06T13:42:04+00:00 From the unexplainable things computers do chronicles: this morning I find that the LAMBDA(), dynamic array, trim range, etc. stuff is suddenly working on my Mac despite it not having been updated in a week or three from App Store and not having worked last night. (After finding this stuff working, I did check App Store and it had an update from 16.95.1 to 16.95.3 waiting.) The only things that have "changed" since they weren't working last night is that a) last night when I started Excel it asked me to sign in, and I did so, and then I found all this stuff not working/not present, and b) I think I'd quit the app last night so it would have restarted this morning when I opened it from the recently launched Excel on taskbar.

I recommend restarting your Mac at least weekly. When an Office application opens it checks your license type and offers the features that are associated with that license type. Not all updates require a full version update. Some simply need to have Excel be Quit one or more times to take effect.
To see if your copy is fully up to date, use the Menu Bar and choose Excel > About Microsoft Excel. Your license type and version will display. The current update is 16.95 which will change to 16.96 next week for most users.
