Looks like the latest version of Company Portal (2020.821.749.0) has finally been able to sort out the confusion over its own installation status.
Company Portal not installed on everybody's computers
After we established our Microsoft Store for Business, we were able to define the Company Portal app for installation to all users with Intune license (group). At the initial review, we saw that our users' devices were gradually having Company Portal installed and were happy.
However today while packaging another Win32 app in Intune, I found to my surprise that roughly half are still stuck in "Install pending" state.
It's been a few months now; what circumstances cause these delays? Those affected and unaffected are a mixture of both standard and administrator users, so it shouldn't be a case of administrator privilege.

2020-08-26T09:53:09.897+00:00 Today we provisioned a new laptop with Windows Autopilot; it got Company Portal pushed thereafter and launches proper. It certainly appears to be a newer version (a new Downloads tab in place of the Installed Apps tab), but again shows that Company Portal itself is "pending download" within.
Intune shows likewise. It appears Company Portal cannot properly track the installation state of itself, thus cannot report to Intune what's really happening?

2023-03-01T01:55:20.22+00:00 Hi All,
I am stuck with the same situation. Did multiple syncs but status won't budge. It's been weeks. Also. for some machines where 1 is being used by multiple users. Status is Installed for few and Install pending for some users
Any advice ?
