User-A from australia office has send a message to user-B in Dubai office. When user- B tried to open the folder from his domain laptop then he got an error stating “ Access denied . Due to organizational policies , you can’t access this resource from this untrusted device .”We tried to login using another user account from the same issue reported laptop and the other user was able to download the shared folder normally . What could be the cause of this issue . We have also verified that the issue reported laptop shows as compliant in Microsoft Intune.

    Hi,

I could see that there was no conditional access policy applied for user’s sign in . Also the user-B device was showing with another user as primary user . While checking the work account in device we could see that it is signed in with user- B only . We will be opening a support case for this issue in Microsoft and once again thank you for your details troubleshooting steps provided .

    Dear Acbmsft007,

    Welcome to the community!

Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot your issue:

First of all, you should Verify Conditional Access Policies:

    • In the Microsoft Entra admin center, navigate to Security > Conditional Access and review all policies.
    • Check for policies that apply to User-B, OneDrive, or the Dubai location. Look for conditions like "Device state," "Location," or "User risk."
    • Use the What If tool in the Conditional Access portal to simulate User-B's sign-in from the Dubai office and identify which policy is blocking access.
    • Compare User-B’s group memberships with the other user who succeeded to spot differences.

Then, you can Check Device Compliance and Registration:

    • In the Microsoft Intune admin center, confirm the device’s compliance status and details (e.g., OS version, encryption, and installed apps).
    • In Microsoft Entra ID, verify the device’s registration status (Devices > All devices). Ensure it is "Entra joined" or "Hybrid Entra joined" and associated with the correct tenant.
    • Check if the device’s Primary User is set to User-B or if it’s misconfigured.

Next, you can Review OneDrive Sharing Settings:

    • Ask User-A to confirm the sharing settings for the folder in OneDrive. Ensure the link is set to "Anyone with the link" or "People in your organization" and not restricted to specific users.
    • In the Microsoft 365 admin center, review SharePoint > Policies > Sharing to check external sharing settings for OneDrive. Ensure there are no restrictions that might affect User-B.

After that, if the above steps don’t resolve the issue,Engage Microsoft SupportGet support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn or contact Microsoft Support via Contact Us - Microsoft Supportdescribe your issue: collect the following details and open a support ticket with Microsoft:

    • User-B’s UPN and the device’s Intune device ID.
    • Sign-in logs from Microsoft Entra ID.
    • The exact sharing link URL (redacted if sensitive).
    • A screenshot of the error message.
    • Details of Conditional Access policies and OneDrive sharing settings.

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope the information helps! If there is any update or I misunderstand you, please feel free to let me know. I will continue to assist you. Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated.

    Best Regards,
