Sharepoint Brand Center not recognizing Font Family in uploaded font

Hi!

I uploaded a .woff2 file to Brand Fonts of the Brand Center. The file is recognized in Brand Fonts and marked as Visible however the Font Family field is not populated. The font is not listed in the Brand Center. When I go to create a Font Package the font is not available.

I am using the incognito mode of my browser. Any suggestions on how to have the Brand Center recognize the uploaded font?

    Hi Patrick,

Thank you for the detailed response.

If you have waited over 48 hours for it to update but and the issue still persists, I suggest preparing the PSR and HAR logs so you can submit this issue to Microsoft support.

For more details, please refer to: How to collect a network trace | Microsoft Learn

How to use Problem Steps Recorder - Microsoft 365 Apps | Microsoft Learn

A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.

Here’s what your Office 365 Global Admin should do next:

    • Submit a Service Request: The Global Admin should create a service request with Microsoft support to get advanced technical assistance and diagnostics. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.

Note: If you’re an end-user, please coordinate with your Office 365 Global Administrator to handle these steps.

The support team over there has higher permission than us to investigate the issue from background, they have more resource and correct escalation channel in handling this kind of issues. This would be a more efficient way in handling the case for you.

As forum moderators, we don’t have access to the detailed logs or backend systems needed to troubleshoot this effectively due to privacy and security constraints.

I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you very much for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Hi Jess-Q!

Thank you very much for the quick response!!

    1. I uploaded the .woff2 file yesterday afternoon. I will continue to monitor it to see if the metadata of the file is populated.
    2. I have confirmed the font is supported. The file size is 258 KB
    3. I uploaded the file to FontDrop.info. I do NOT see the Font Family.
    4. I have tried .woff which is also supported by the Brand Center
    5. Cleared my cache and used a regular browsing session.
    6. Re-uploaded the font

Related Question - How can you remove an uploaded font from the Brand Center? I uploaded a few files, all of which have been unsuccessful. Now the Brand Center is rather cluttered. I can filter the files from view but do not see how we can remove them from the Brand Center.

I will follow up with font source to see what they have to say about the Font Family information missing from FontDrop. I will update this string with status update.

    Thanks again!!

    Dear Patrick,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

Regarding your issue, it likely relates to metadata extraction or library configuration in SharePoint Brand Center.

Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Wait for a little bit

After uploading, the system needs a little while to extract the font metadata (like the Font Family name). If you just uploaded it, please wait a bit and refresh the page.

    1. Ensure the font format and size are supported

.woff2 is supported, but make sure the file size is within limits (usually under 10MB) and that the font license allows embedding.

    1. Check the Font metadata
    • The Brand Center relies on embedded metadata to populate the Font Family field.
    • Use a tool like https://fontdrop.info/ or https://transfonter.org/ to inspect your .woff2 file. (This is a third-party tools and is not from Microsoft so Microsoft cannot make any representations regarding the quality, safety, or suitability of any software or information found there. Please make sure that you completely understand the risk before retrieving any suggestions from the above link)
    • If the font-family name is missing or malformed, the Brand Center won’t recognize it.
    1. Try a different format

If .woff2 isn’t working, try uploading the same font in .ttf or .otf format. These are also supported and sometimes extract metadata more reliably.

    1. Avoid using Incognito Mode

While incognito mode shouldn’t directly affect font parsing, you can try uploading the font in a regular browser session.

    1. Re-upload the Font

Delete the current upload and try again because the metadata extraction fails silently on the first attempt sometimes.

You can give it a try and update for me to know if it works, if you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
