During data synchronization (DevOps Server 2019), the msmdsrv.exe service has almost 100% CPU load.
The server was restarted. The problem persisted.

It would be justified when it happened all the time, but it only takes place during a given operation - synchonization of IncrementalAnalysisProcessing in the DevOPS Server 2019 system as I wrote about in the TFS help topic, and I was sent here.
Usually the CPU load disappears after 30 minutes because this synchronization ends.
How am I supposed to find out what exactly influences that a very high load is generated during this particular process?

The same issue occurs here when refreshing data in every Power BI desktop (Version: 2.142.1277.0 64-bit (April 2025)) dashboard -- msmdsrv.exe is the executable with the highest CPU usage and I have seen it consume as much as 1.5 GB RAM. During such times, other running PC applications lock up and do not respond. The database connection in Power BI is not to SQL Server, however, but to Oracle, and thus, @CarrinWu-MSFT 's 9-13-2021 solution (specifically, numbers 2-4) appear irrelevant. The PC used here has 32 GB RAM, and it is maxing out at around 17 GB usage during these refresh times, leading me to conclude solution number 1 is also irrelevant in this case.
My research led me to this "solution" (https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Desktop/msmdsrv-exe-bloated-to-4-7-G-memory-usage-what-s-wrong/m-p/155623), but my .pbix files are not corrupt as this post's author discovered in his situation. I confirmed my Power BI settings do not permit data previews to download in the background. Parallel loading of tables is set to Default.
This leaves me with two questions:

This process is not considered CPU intensive. However, running too many processes on your system may affect your PC’s performance. To reduce system overload, you can use the Microsoft System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) or the Windows Task Manager to manually find and disable processes that launch upon start-up. Where exactly can I find this "LimitSystemFileCacheSizeMB" option?
Hi @LA , for SSAS, all properties are in the msmdsrv.ini file. In a default installation, msmdsrv.ini can be found in the \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS13.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Config folder. For more information, please refer to Server properties in Analysis Services.
