Dear @Harrison Craig,
Welcome to the Q&A Community.
Thank you for sharing your concerns. Unfortunately, Microsoft Planner does not natively support direct Excel imports and I understand how important this feature is to you.
In the meantime, you can refer to the workarounds listed below:
1.Export Your Excel Data:
Prepare your Excel spreadsheet that contains the tasks. Make sure to organize it so that each task has the necessary details (task name, assignee, due date, etc.).
- Use the Suggested Planner tasks Feature:
Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to the channel where you'd like to add the tasks.
If task suggestions are available, you should see a Suggested Planner tasks card.
Review the tasks and fill in any details for each, like assignees and due dates.
Choose the plan to which you want to add these tasks.
Select the tasks you want to create and click Create tasks.
Create Planner tasks from suggested tasks | Microsoft Learn
- Manual Entry
Open Teams and go to the channel linked to your Planner.
Use the Tasks by Planner and To Do app.
Manually copy-paste task names from Excel into the task creation box.
Press Enter after each task name to quickly add multiple tasks.
I hope this workaround can help mitigate some of the disruption and make your workflow a bit smoother. I sincerely apologize that the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available. At Microsoft, we greatly value user feedback and continuously strive to enhance our products.

I recommend submitting your feedback via the Microsoft Feedback Portal or directly through any Microsoft 365 app by going to Help > Feedback or File > Feedback. Feedback with more votes is more likely to be reviewed and considered by the product team for future updates.
Later on, the development team will put it into Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365
Your feedback is valuable and contributes to the ongoing improvement of Microsoft 365 products. If there’s anything else I can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
