I try to open my pdf file inside my sharepoint using 'open in app', but when i click this the pdf is not opened. So now i only can open the pdf file via browser.

Based on your description, I understand that you are having issue with SharePoint that cannot use feature "Open in app". For better assist, please kindly let me know:

May I ask if you could download the file to your local drive and try opening it manually to see if it works?
Do you have the OneDrive desktop application installed on your computer, and has it synced the data from the web to the app?
Is your browser configured to allow pop-ups and redirects in your browser? (Below is Microsoft Edge).
Open an incognito browser window and try selecting "Open in app" for that file, then check if it works.

Sorry for my late respond.

May I ask if you could download the file to your local drive and try opening it manually to see if it works? Yes i can download then open the pdf.

Do you have the OneDrive desktop application installed on your computer, and has it synced the data from the web to the app? Yes i have, if i open pdf in another sharepoint sites then 'open in app' is woring fine.

Open an incognito browser window and try selecting "Open in app" for that file, then check if it works. Not only try using incognito but we the issue almost for company users.

Thank you for your response.

To proceed, may I ask that in the SharePoint site's Advanced Settings under "Offline and sync" you also need to enable this "Allow people to sync this document library to their computers with Microsoft OneDrive and access it offline".

2.Activate the feature called Open Documents in Client Applications by Default in Site collection features.

Go to Site content > Site settings > Library and lists > Advanced settings > Open in App

3.Open Edge settings by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner and selecting Settings > Go to Cookies and site permissions > Scroll down to PDF documents and turn on Always open PDF files externally.

Below is the procedure to access the Advanced Settings and Site Collection Features of a SharePoint site:

1.SharePoint site's Advanced Settings

Method 1: Go to Site content > Site settings > Library and lists > Customize "PDF" Advanced settings

2.Site collection features.

I think we have different layout, i can't find site setting or List Setting in my gear button

In the method 2, seem like it appears that you are selecting the 'Home' option. You are advised to select 'List' instead.
