How does one bring over the signature files from the old Outlook for Windows into the new Outlook?

Thank You

Hi @Bill Seward

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Community.

We want to give you some details that Old Outlook stores signatures locally on your PC. Each signature includes .htm, .rtf, .txt files and a folder for images/logos if any. Otherwise, New Outlook stores signatures in the cloud, tied to your Microsoft account. This means you cannot import signature files directly from Old to New Outlook.

Therefore, the most efficient and simplest way we suggest is to copy your signatures directly from Old to New Outlook:

  • Open both the classic and new Outlook apps side by side.
  • In classic Outlook, go to File > Options > Mail > Signatures > Select the signature you want to move and copy it.
  • In the new Outlook, go to Settings > Accounts > Signatures > add New signature, paste the one you copied into the editor.

Hope this information will help. If there’s anything else I can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Yes, I do see the Microsoft Community folder and others under my Microsoft Exchange email folder. But when I try to create a rule to move an incoming Outlook.com email that in my Outlook email inbox, into an existing folder such as the Microsoft Community folder.

I suspect, as you stated, "Rules and folders are account-specific". I suspect that's the case.

Is there any way to make folders shareable?

    Is there a workaround?

I have maybe 30+ folders housed under my Exchange folder.

    To whom it may concern,

I have created an Outlook email account I'm forwarding my email from my old email account to my Outlook email account. Thus, there isn't a need to change my email address, but gradually. Presently in the new Outlook program, I have an email registered through Microsoft Exchange. When I upgraded from classic Outlook to the new Outlook, the rules for the MS Exchange-generated email address transferred over.

But when I registered my new Outlook email address within New Outlook. I found out I wasn't able to access this existing (30+) folder to have the rules move specific emails into. One might be my existing general advertisement folder.

How do I accomplish this task?

I recently created a folder, and now I can't even find that folder. I have a Microsoft folder with a subfolder called Microsoft Community. How do I send emails that come through my Outlook email address and populate the Microsoft Community folder?

This is about accessing existing folders.

I'm considering creating an Outlook email account so that I can set up rules. I can forward my existing email to a new Outlook email account. I also have Microsoft 365 Personal. My question is, can I create an email address via 365, or is it something I need to do outside of 365?

    I have another Outlook question.

I have two different email addresses embedded into my Outlook. I had the same email addresses linked to my classic Outlook profile. I was able to setup rules for both email addresses. Now I'm trying to do the same in the new Outlook. But for some reason, the new Outlook rules will only work with my Microsoft Exchange email address, not my other address. What i get is a message "Inbox rules are not supported for selected account". What have I done wrong, since it worked in my classic outlook?

    Thank you for your time
