A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Regarding your issue, when you create or work in a Temporary View in Excel, it’s still tied to the Default View until you save and name it as a permanent Sheet View. This means:
- If you apply filters or sorts in Default view it will affect Temporary View.
- This is just how Excel’s current implementation of Sheet Views function.
The best practice I can suggest your employees is before changing filters/sorts, pick your named view from the Sheet View switcher (eye icon). If prompted “Apply to just you or everyone?”, choose Just mine.
I understand this can be frustrating and that in multi-user scenarios, perfect isolation of filtering isn’t always guaranteed. Microsoft continues to develop and improve these collaboration features, so hopefully future update of Excel will improve this feature better.
Hopefully it will work for you and if you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
