Not receiving verification code

I am required to set up 2-factor authentication to access a sharepoint. This is a sharepoint I previously have had access to for years, however, the owner has now required the 2-factor authentification. I use a github login to access this sharepoint and went through the process of scanning the QR code with my authenticator app, but at the last step, which is to get a verification code sent to the email address linked to my github account I receive no such verification code. Please advise.
(Yes I have checked the spam folder. This is the second time trying to get the verification code. The first time was many days ago and neither attempt has resulted in a verification code to my inbox).

Thanks!

    Hi TheBont

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum support and apologize for the inconvenience

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Based on your description, I understand that you're attempting to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) to access a SharePoint site using your GitHub login. Although you've successfully scanned the QR code with your authenticator app, you're not receiving the verification code via the email address linked to your GitHub account.

To address this issue, the first recommended approach is to verify your GitHub 2FA setup and recovery options. GitHub requires users to enable 2FA, save recovery codes, and optionally set up a backup SMS number or any alternatives sign-in method.

If you haven’t saved your recovery codes or configured a backup method, GitHub support cannot restore access. You can review GitHub’s official recovery guide here: GitHub Docs – Recovering your account.

If the issue still persists, kindly let me know in the comment section for further support
