    Dear EUNICE KARIUKI

Thanks for reaching out! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A. I'm Haien from Microsoft Q&A.
I’m so sorry to hear you’re dealing with no sound on your HP EliteBook 830 G6 after that BIOS update—it’s especially frustrating since you rely on it for virtual meetings.
A BIOS update can sometimes reset or change hardware configurations, or it can introduce a new version of the firmware that requires a specific, updated driver to function correctly. Even if the drivers appear "installed," they may not be the correct version for the new BIOS, or a setting has been changed that is preventing the audio from working. The "no audio devices installed" message in the Control Panel is a strong indicator that Windows is failing to recognize the audio hardware, even though the driver files themselves are present on your system.

Solution 1: Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Find “Playing Audio> Run > Follow the prompts to detect and fix common audio issues, such as disabled devices or services > Restart your laptop and check if sound works (test with headphones or speakers).

Solution 2: Clean Install the Audio Driver

    • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager." > Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section > Right-click on your Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology and Realtek(R) Audio devices > Select "Uninstall device" for each one > Check the box that says "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" if it appears.
    • Go to the official HP support website via this link: Official HP® Support > Search for your specific model: HP EliteBook 830 G6 Notebook PC > Download the latest Intel High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver and the Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Windows 11.
    • Install the drivers you just downloaded (It is recommended to install the Intel audio driver first, then the Realtek driver)
    • Restart your PC after both installations are complete.
