Import HDI external HIVE Metadata DB into Synapse

I have an HDI 4.0 cluster I am trying to turn off and move to Synapse.
I have an external HIVE DB.

How can I import HIVE tables+metadata?

I know I can first recreate the metadata by hand and then read from ADLS.

I want to automate/eliminate that first step by getting it directly from SQL.

All searches so far tell me how to do it with Databricks.

    Hello @Pablo Barcenas ,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A platform.

Azure Synapse Analytics supports sharing the external Hive Metastore of HDI – link here, and since you are using HDI 4.0, please also pay attention to this section in the document.

The other option if you want migrate from the external Hive Metastore to Synapse, we also have tool to do help (the tool is both applicable to ADB and HDI).

Hope this will help. Please let us know if any further queries.
