Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi Linda McGuinness,
Thank you for posting to Microsoft Q&A Forum.
Microsoft has acknowledged that the new Outlook currently offers limited Teams integration compared to the classic Outlook client (for example: sharing to Teams, presence indicators, quick launch options, and some add-ins).
There is no confirmed resolution date yet; Microsoft is gradually rolling out updates to improve the integration.
Temporary Workarounds (not tied to meetings specifically):
- Use the Teams app directly (desktop or web) for Teams-related actions (chat, channels, files, calendar) and continue email tasks in Outlook as usual.
- Switch back to classic Outlook if you rely on the previous Teams integration features; you can switch between the two as needed.
- Check sync/configuration:
- Ensure Outlook and Teams are up to date.
- Confirm you are signed in with the same account in both Outlook and Teams.
- Review Connected apps/Integrations settings and restart the app/device afterward.
- Quick fixes for display or interaction issues: Sign out and sign back in, clear app cache, try Incognito/Private mode, or toggle “Use the new Outlook” off and back on.
I will continue monitoring Microsoft’s official announcements and will share any confirmed timeline or fixes for Outlook–Teams integration as soon as they are available.
If you have a specific use case (e.g., sharing an email to Teams, checking presence, opening a Teams chat from Outlook), please let us know so I can provide step-by-step guidance tailored to your scenario.
