"Add shortcut to my files" in sharepoint is missing

Hello,

I'm using OneDrive school/work account from my company. My college send me a shared folder from his OneDrive but when I want to create shortcut for that shared folder the option "Add shortcut to My Files" is missing.

Please let me know if there a fix for this and or other way around so I don't need to open OneDrive web every time I want to access the shared folder.

Regarding to your question, could you please share a few more detail by the following?

• How was the folder shared with you? For example, did you receive an invitation email with access, or was it shared via a link?
• Have you tried adding shortcuts to other folders to check if the Add shortcut option appears for them? If yes, please attempt to add a shortcut to another folder and kindly confirm if you encounter any errors or if it works normally.
• For the folder you cannot add a shortcut to, could you confirm whether you have never added it to your "My Files" before? If you previously added it to "My Files," the option may no longer appear unless you remove it first. You can refer to this article for more details: Add shortcuts to shared folders in OneDrive - Microsoft Support.

• To help rule out any potential caused, could you please double-check if the account you’re using to add the shortcut is the same one the folder owner shared with you. Additionally, please verify if the OneDrive desktop app syncing process is complete or if any settings are missing. You can also log in to your OneDrive account via the web and check if the Add shortcut option is available.
• If possible, please ask other users who have access to the folder if they are also missing the Add shortcut to My Files option.
• Could you please share the screenshot for our better understanding your situation? (please remember remove any personal information)

In the meantime, you could ask your colleague to reshare the folder link and try accessing it again to see if the Add shortcut option reappears.

I opened the folder by direct click link from email or from my shared folder in my OneDrive (web) but sync or the option create shortcut.

May I know the windows and office version you use? Maybe it can be the reason we have different OneDrive option.
