Microsoft 365 Developer Admin Account Locked - Data Recovery Options Needed

As a participant in the Microsoft 365 Developer Program with an active E5 subscription, the Global Admin account has been locked, leading to a loss of access. After contacting support and waiting two months, the only response received was that the account had been disabled, with no guidance on data recovery options.

This situation feels irresponsible, as there has been no solution provided or means to recover the stored data, despite the subscription being active. When attempting to contact support via phone, it was indicated that premium support would be necessary, incurring additional charges to resolve this issue. It is surprising that there are extra charges for support on Microsoft's services in critical situations.

The primary requirement is not to unlock the account but to find a way to transfer the data. Legal identity verification can be provided if necessary.

    Dear @vasantha varma Datla

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum

I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and I want to acknowledge how incredibly frustrating and disappointing this situation must be. I have read your message carefully, and I understand your concerns about the lack of a timely solution and the feeling that this process has been irresponsible, especially while your E5 subscription was active.

I also want to address your experience with the support process and the mention of additional charges for premium support. I understand why this would be surprising and frustrating in a critical situation. While I cannot speak on behalf of Microsoft's business policies, I can clarify that the Developer Program is distinct from enterprise subscriptions. Support for free developer accounts is typically provided through community forums and limited online channels, whereas dedicated, direct support is a feature of paid, premium service agreements. I recognize that this can be a difficult distinction when you have lost access to valuable data.

Regarding your primary goal of data recovery, I must transparently share that, based on Microsoft's data retention policies, data associated with a disabled account is typically purged after 60 days. This policy is in place for all free and trial accounts, regardless of the subscription's technical status. I also want to acknowledge your willingness to provide legal identity verification. While this is a crucial step in many account recovery scenarios, unfortunately, it doesn't apply once the data has been permanently deleted from the system.

I understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for, and I sincerely regret that I cannot offer a direct solution for data recovery or transfer. As a forum moderator, my capabilities are limited in this regard.

If you wish to continue exploring and building with Microsoft 365, the best path forward is to create a new free E5 Developer account via the Developer Program portal. I am here to help if you have any other questions related to Microsoft 365 products.
