    Hi @Nilanjan Majumdar,

Thank you again for your thoughtful follow-up and no worries at all about the delay, I completely understand how busy month-end can be!

I really appreciate the clarity of your request. The idea of separating the sender and subject line into distinct columns for better readability and sorting makes a lot of sense, and I can see how that would be especially helpful for users who manage a high volume of emails.

At this time, New Outlook for Windows doesn’t offer a built-in option to display sender and subject as separate horizontal columns in the inbox list. The closest available layout is when the Reading Pane is set to “Show on the bottom”, which helps visually distinguish the sender and subject but as you’ve rightly pointed out, it doesn’t replicate the side-by-side column view you’re looking for.

Since this is a valuable usability idea, I’d strongly encourage you to share it directly with the Outlook product team:

    • In Outlook: go to Help> Feedback > Send a Suggestion  User's image
    • Or post it on the Microsoft Feedback Portal: Outlook · Community  undefined

If you do decide to post your idea publicly, feel free to share the link here, I’d be happy to vote for it and help bring more visibility to your suggestion. Microsoft actively reviews user feedback, and the more interest a request receives, the more likely it is to be considered for future updates.

If this response helped clarify things, please consider marking it as the accepted answer and giving it an upvote. That way, your question and idea can reach more users who are searching for similar solutions, and it may help build momentum around this feature request.

Thanks again for raising such a thoughtful and user-focused suggestion. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more ideas or questions. I’m always happy to help!

    Hi Liora

thanks for the prompt answers from your end and apologies for the delay at my end, i am blaming month-end closures for the same :)

yes, i understood and checked out your suggestions - however since the layout is coming at the bottom its not helping me much - i can understand that changes take time to adjust, but honestly i feel my efficiency and processing is better when its all side by side pane.

i guess there is no option currently for that, the only way we can separate out the sender name and the subject if and only we have the detailed email reading pane at the bottom

    Thanks

    Nilanjan

    Hi @Nilanjan Majumdar

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Q&A.

Just to make sure I understand your request correctly:

Are you looking to combine the sender’s name and the subject line into a single row in your inbox view to make it more compact? Or would you prefer to keep them separated on two distinct lines for better readability?

To help you more effectively, could you also please share a screenshot of your current inbox layout in New Outlook? That would give me a clearer idea of how things are displaying on your end and allow me to guide you with the most relevant steps.

Looking forward to your reply so I can assist further!
