Hi @John Alfred Gregorio

Thank you for your prompt response and for sharing the article regarding the retirement of Microsoft Project Online.

Microsoft has announced that Project Online will be retired on September 30, 2026. This change is part of our long-term strategy to modernize project management experiences across Microsoft 365.

To clarify:

  • This retirement only affects Project Online.
  • It does not impact Project desktop, Project Server Subscription Edition, Microsoft Planner, or To Do.

After September 30, 2026, Project Online and its data will no longer be accessible. We understand this may impact your workflows, and we’re here to support you through the transition.

Depending on your organization’s needs, here are the main options:

  1. Planner Premium (Project for the web)
    • Built on Microsoft Power Platform
    • Offers modern, collaborative project management with AI-powered features
    • Integrates with Power BI, Power Automate, and Microsoft Teams
  2. Project Server Subscription Edition
    • Ideal for organizations requiring on-premises or hybrid solutions
    • Retains the familiar Project Web App (PWA) experience
  3. Dynamics 365 Project Operations
    • Best suited for organizations with advanced resource and financial management needs

We recommend beginning your planning process early to ensure a smooth transition.

You can find the official announcement and timeline here:  Ending Support in 2026 - Microsoft Lifecycle | Microsoft Learn

I hope the information provided is helpful. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out at any time.

Warm regards,

    Hello,

    I see this article https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/plannerblog/microsoft-project-online-is-retiring-what-you-need-to-know/4450558/replies/4452571

I want to confirm if this is an official statement from Microsoft and if there is any workaround we can do to retain it.

"Project Online will officially retire on September 30, 2026. We know this is a significant change, and we want to acknowledge the impact it may have on your organization, your workflows, and your planning processes.

This update is exclusive to Project Online and does not affect Project desktop, Project Server, or Planner (which brings together Project for the web, Planner in Microsoft 365, and To Do)."

Hi @Anonymous , please, could you please elaborate further on your answer regarding licensing, as the Project Web App (PWA) is currently included in the following subscriptions:

    • Microsoft 365 F3 and Office 365 F3
    • Office 365 E1
    • Microsoft 365 for business
    • Microsoft E3 and Office 365 E3
    • Microsoft E5 and Office 365 E5

"After all the transitions, which plans will the new Microsoft Planner be part of?"

    Hi @John Alfred Gregorio

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand that changes to Project Web App can lead to a lot of questions, so I want to make sure you feel fully informed and supported as you move forward.

Microsoft has officially announced that Project for the Web, along with the Project and Roadmap apps in Microsoft Teams, will be retired starting August 2025. This is part of a bigger move to bring everything together in the new Microsoft Planner, which is designed to be a more powerful and flexible tool for managing work.

You can read the full announcement here: Transitioning to Microsoft Planner and retiring Microsoft Project for the Web

    What’s changing:

    • Project for the Web and Roadmap will no longer be available after August 2025.
    • Users will be automatically redirected to the new Planner experience.
    • The Project Power App will be renamed to the Planner Power App.
    • If you’ve added Project or Roadmap tabs in Teams, you’ll need to re-pin them using the new Planner tab.

    There're the good news:

    • You don’t need to migrate anything manually, your existing plans will still be there in the new Planner.
    • The new Planner brings together the best of Project, Planner, and To Do, with added features like:
      • Goals, sprints, and baselines
      • Task history and advanced dependencies
      • AI-powered help from Copilot and the Project Manager agent

We know transitions like this can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to support you every step of the way. If you’d like help getting ready or just want to talk through what this means for your team, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Warm regards,
