Hi @Vallee WO LR@QG 2 Div CA FOIE@Defence365
Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A Forum.
I understand it can be frustrating and confusing to still receive calendar event notifications and see the message “Received for [The old, shared mailbox name]” after the shared mailbox has been deleted and your permissions removed.
This usually happens because Outlook or Exchange still remembers a hidden connection to that old mailbox. It could be leftover delegate permissions, an auto-mapping entry, or even the old address accidentally saved as an alias on your account.
To rule out local issues, you can:
- In your Outlook desktop app, go to File > Account Settings > Delegate Access. Confirm that the old shared mailbox is not listed. If it appears, remove it and restart Outlook.
- Sign in to Outlook on the web and check if the same invites appear there. If they don’t, then it’s probably just something cached in the desktop app.
If the issue continues, your IT administrator will need to investigate further. They should:
- Check the email proxy addresses on your personal mailbox properties to ensure the old shared mailbox address isn’t listed as an alias.
- Run a message trace in the Exchange Admin Center for one of the problematic events to identify the forwarding path.
- Confirm the shared mailbox is permanently deleted and remove any remaining hidden auto-mapping entries or mail flow rules pointing to your account.
Since these steps require backend access, only your IT team can fully resolve the issue. In the meantime, please let us know how things go, we’ll be happy to help further.
