Dear Maurizio Gregori
Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Foum. I'm Haien from Microsoft Q&A.
I'm sorry to hear the translation feature in Copilot isn't working as expected. The way Copilot features evolve can sometimes lead to different results for the same prompt! The change you are seeing is likely due to an evolution in how Microsoft is developing and refining the Copilot experience in the Microsoft 365 applications, which often includes updating what is considered a "safe" or "supported" action.
In the meantime, you can try these workarounds and let me know anything news for narrowing down your problem:
Option 1: Narrow down the Prompt in Copilot
- Open the Copilot pane and try this prompt, ensuring you replace the language: Translate this entire presentation to [Target Language] and save it as a new file. → Wait for Copilot's confirmation/request for the new file name.
- Prompt: Create a new presentation from this file, translated into [Target Language].
Option 2: Use Translator feature
- Right-click your original presentation file in File Explorer and select Copy, then Paste. Rename the copy (e.g., "Presentation_Translated").
- Open the Copy.
- Use the Review Tab: Go to the Review tab in the Ribbon.
- 4. Select the text you want to translate (or use the translation pane) and select Translate → Translate Document. (The "Translate Document" option will attempt to translate the entire file and works better on text-heavy slides).
