Hi,

We have deployed Windows updates from Intune. However, some of our devices which are on Win11 24H2 have received updates but those were not triggered automatically, and we are able to install those manually. Can you let us know if there are any bugs of Update Stack in 24H2? can you help

Hi Shantanu Bhowmik,

Your notice with the issue with the Windows 11 24H2 update stack is in fact correct, and the issue is quite known to many users. The update stack can get stuck in a local scan state, which prevents Intune/Windows Update for Business (WUfB) from automatically triggering the install. That’s why you’re seeing updates available but only installable manually. Microsoft is aware of this problem and working on fixer. So please keep an eye on Microsoft’s release health page here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2

In the meantime, however, what you can do is:

  1. Check WUfB enrollment state – If it’s stuck, a re-sync or re-enrollment often clears it.
  2. Run Get-WindowsUpdateLog – This can help confirm if the update stack is stuck in scan mode.
  3. Force Intune sync – Sometimes a manual sync from Company Portal or dsregcmd /status followed by re-sync resolves the issue.

I hope you find this piece of advice useful to some extent. If it is, don't forget to accept the answer as a means to share your experience with the community. Thank you :)

Vivian
