Needing help with something. When I double click on an email to open it in another window the scale of the words are TINY! And when I use the shortcut to hold Ctrl and scroll the mouse everything on the screen changes scale. It's just the email I need fixed. I don't know what happened or how to fix it. Any advise?

    Hi @Brittany S,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

The issue you’re describing usually happens when the zoom level for individual messages is changed in Outlook on the web. Here are a few steps you can try:

1/ Fix the tiny text in opened emails:

    • Open the email in a separate window (double-click as you normally do).
    • Look for the Zoom control.

    User's image

    • If you don’t see it, click the Arrow down button. User's image
    • Adjust the zoom level back to 100%.

    2/ Browser check:

    • Make sure your browser is up to date.
    • Try clearing cache or opening Outlook in a private/incognito window to rule out browser-related issues.

If Ctrl + scroll changes the entire page, that shortcut affects the browser zoom, not just the email. Reset the browser zoom by pressing Ctrl + 0 (zero) to return to default.

If you want to use that shortcut, but want only the email to change its scale, you can point your mouse cursor to the part that you want to zoom in or out and then press Ctrl + scroll the mouse.

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the scaling of text in emails when opened in a separate window in Outlook. This can sometimes happen due to DPI (dots per inch) settings or scaling issues in Windows. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Adjust the Zoom Level: While viewing the email, you can try adjusting the zoom level. You can do this by holding down the Ctrl key and scrolling your mouse wheel up to zoom in or down to zoom out. This should only affect the email content and not the entire screen.
    2. Check DPI Settings: If the text appears too small, it might be related to your display settings. Right-click on your desktop, select Display settings, and check the scaling settings under Scale and layout. You may want to experiment with different scaling percentages to see if it improves the text size in Outlook.
    3. Change Font Size in Outlook: If the above steps do not help, you can also try changing the default font size in Outlook. Go to File > Options > Mail > Stationery and Fonts and adjust the font settings there.
    4. Reset Zoom Level: If the zoom level has been changed inadvertently, you can reset it to 100% by pressing Ctrl + 0 while in the email window.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be worth checking for any updates to Outlook or Windows that could address compatibility issues.
