Request to Enable “Send From Alias” Feature on My Microsoft 365 Mailbox

Hi there,

My Microsoft 365 email is 'user1+domain.ca', and I have several aliases already set up under my account (such as 'user2+domain.ca' and 'user3+domain.ca').

When I compose a new message in Outlook, I don’t see the “From” option that allows me to select a different alias. Could you please enable the Microsoft 365 “Send From Alias” feature on my mailbox?

Once that feature is enabled, I’ll be able to send from my aliases directly in Outlook.

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,

    Hi @shevanthi collure

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Q&A forum.

The option to manually choose an email address in the ‘From’ field can only be adjusted by the user and not by others. I completely understand how important this flexibility is for managing communications, so I’m happy to share the steps to enable selecting a different sender when composing an email in Outlook.

    +In Outlook on the Web:

Go to Settings (top right) > Mail > Compose and reply > Enable "Always show From" to manually adjust the From email address bar.

    User's image

To manually add an email address, click the dropdown icon in the From field, select "Other email address", and then enter your alias.

    undefined

In the Outlook desktop app, you can adjust the ‘From’ email address as part of its default functionality. Simply choose ‘Other Email Address’ from the drop-down list, similar to Outlook on the web. No additional setup is required.

Additionally, if you don’t want emails to be rewritten using the primary SMTP address, you can enable the option: “Turn on sending alias” in Microsoft Exchange Admin Center

    undefined

Note: This setting doesn’t change your ability to send emails using an alias. It only controls whether the system rewrites the email to show your primary address or keeps the alias unchanged.

I hope this helps clarify your situation. If you have any updates or further questions, please feel free to reach out.
