Dear @ADM Randy PAPA,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand that you're having an unexpected issue where your user, an Owner of the Teams Channel, is unable to post a Loop component because they receive a permissions error stating they can only view, not edit the content.
As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your account or delve into the backend systems to diagnose and fix this for you. However, our role here is limited to providing general guidance and solutions that can be applied by users.
From my research, Teams/Channel membership (Owner role) doesn't always automatically equate to editing permissions for a specific Loop file, as Loop components are actually files stored in SharePoint or OneDrive, and they have their own specific sharing permissions. Even though the user is a Team Owner, they may not have been granted direct editing permissions on the specific .fluid file, or a security setting is overriding the inheritance.
The first steps are focused on the individual Loop file's settings.
- Have the user click the "Open in browser" button displayed in the component header.
- If the user who created the Loop component manually restricted permissions, the Team Owner needs to ask the creator of the Loop to explicitly share the file with them using "Can edit" permissions. The creator should open the Loop in the browser and use the standard Microsoft 365 sharing settings to ensure the Team Owner is specifically listed with edit access.
If permissions should be correct, the client might be holding onto old permissions data.
Clear the Microsoft Teams cache on the user's desktop application. This forces the client to re-authenticate and fetch the latest permissions for the Loop component.

Administrator-Level Site Sharing Check
The issue might be due to restrictive sharing policies set at the SharePoint site collection level that override Teams membership. This step requires Admin permission. If you are the end-user, please contact your organization's IT administrator or help desk. If you don't know who your IT administrator is, please refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
Ask your Microsoft 365 Admin:
- The admin should check the Sharing Settings for the SharePoint Site Collection associated with that Team.
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center at admin.microsoft.com using a Global Admin or SharePoint Admin account.
- In the left navigation pane, under the Admin centers section, click SharePoint.
- In the SharePoint Admin Center, navigate to Sites > Active sites.
- Use the search bar to find the SharePoint site corresponding to the Teams Channel where the Loop component was posted. Note: Teams channels create a SharePoint site with a similar name.
- Choose Settings > More sharing settings
- A pane will open on the right showing the external sharing settings for that specific site. You will see four levels:
- Anyone (most permissive)
- New and existing guests
- Existing guests only
- Only people in your organization (most restrictive)
- Scroll down in that same pane to see the Default sharing link type and Default link permission section. This is where you can confirm:
- Default Link Type: Check what type of link is generated by default (e.g., "Specific people," "Only people in your organization"). If the default is too restrictive (e.g., "Specific people"), it requires the creator to manually add everyone, which is a potential source of the issue.
- Default link permission: If this is set to View but not Edit, this could be the issue.
If none of the above solutions work, let me know in the comments for further investigation. Please note that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward to your reply.
