Immersive Reader in Canvas and tables

Hi,

We have tables properly formatted in Canvas for screen readers. They can be read by screen readers like NVDA; however, Immersive Reader does not read tables properly (it doesn't identify the cell). It also doesn't seem to remember settings as you navigate from page to page.

I reached out to Canvas and they said this was a problem with Immersive Reader. Is there a way to flag this for Microsoft to look at the Canvas integration and reading tables?

Or does anyone have a solution to get the Immersive Reader to read tables in Canvas properly?

Thanks!

Immersive Reader's functionality with tables in Canvas may indeed have limitations, as you described. While tables can be formatted correctly for screen readers like NVDA, Immersive Reader might not fully support reading table cells or retaining settings across pages. Unfortunately, there is no direct solution provided in the available context for improving Immersive Reader's performance with tables in Canvas.

To flag this issue for Microsoft, you might consider providing feedback through the official Microsoft support channels or forums where they track user feedback and issues. This could help raise awareness of the problem and potentially lead to improvements in future updates.

For now, exploring alternative methods to present data or using different tools that better support table reading in Immersive Reader might be necessary until a solution is implemented.
