A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Hi @Adrianna Pliego,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Regarding to your question about Word online track editing time, currently, Word for the web (Word Online) does not track or display editing time. This feature is available in the desktop version of Word under File > Info > Properties, but it hasn’t been implemented in the online version.
Word Online is designed for lightweight, collaborative editing in a browser. Some advanced features from the desktop app, such as tracking total editing time, are not included yet.
If you need editing time details, you can use these as a workaround:
- Open the document in Word desktop app (Windows or Mac) and check under File > Info > Properties.
- Use Version History in Word Online to see when changes were made, though it won’t show cumulative editing time.
I completely understand that not having the option to track editing time can feel limiting, especially for scenarios where monitoring productivity or effort is important. Word Online currently prioritizes simplicity and real-time collaboration, but your feedback truly matters. You can share your suggestion directly with the product team:
You can do this in Word online by selecting Help > Feedback, or through the Microsoft 365 Feedback Hub > Send Feedback > Describe your proposal in detail so the team can consider it for future improvements.
As a forum moderator, I can’t change product behavior, but once you submit feedback, feel free to share the link here. I’ll gladly upvote it to help bring more visibility.
Additionally, since many other users have expressed similar concerns but may not know where to submit feedback, if my response has helped you better understand the situation and guided you toward a possible next step, please mark it as the “Accepted Answer.” Your action will help pin this post to the top, making it easier for others in the community who are experiencing the same issue to find your feedback and support it.
