Can you tell me please if is this happening to only one cell or all cell? Also, for the box outlined in red you mention, is there any data validation configured on the cell? Or to further check, please share a screenshot for reference.

In the meantime, if indeed has a data validation configured, please know that these settings can restrict the type of content allowed in the cell—for example, only numbers or only certain text. If the text you are trying to enter (including a space) does not meet the allowed rule, Excel prevents the entry and highlights the cell in red to indicate that it does not meet the required conditions. Removing or adjusting the data validation or formatting rules will allow the spacebar and normal text entry to work again.
