Hi,

I use the export to excel option in SharePoint O365 and like that within the Title column, the titles are made into url links that point you back to the sharepoint item (if clicked on). When I export to excel in a sharepoint list, I do not get that option, the title value is plain text and not a hyperlink. Is there a way to enable this or make happen?

    Hi @JPache

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I understand you’d like the Title column in your SharePoint list export to Excel to include clickable hyperlinks, similar to what you see when exporting from a document library.

Currently, this behavior is expected because:

    • Document libraries store file URLs, so the export includes hyperlinks.
    • SharePoint lists treat the Title column as plain text, so links aren’t automatically added during export.

Here are a few ways you can try:

1/ Export to Excel from SharePoint or Lists

    • From the command bar of the list, select Export > Export to Excel.  User's image

If needed, select OK > Open after the file download begins.

    • If prompted and you trust the SharePoint site, in the Excel security page, select Enable.
    • In the Excel > Choose Import Data dialog box, select the How you want to view this data and Where do you want to put the data options.
    • When done, select OK. The list should appear in Excel.  User's image
    • Excel creates an Excel table with a one-way data connection based on a web query file. To bring a fresh copy of the SharePoint list to Excel, select Refresh All on the Data tab.   User's image

    2/ Adding Hyperlinks After Export

You can’t directly export the Title column as a hyperlink from a SharePoint list, but you can:

    • Use Excel’s HYPERLINK() formula after export: =HYPERLINK("https://yourtenant.sharepoint.com/sites/yoursite/Lists/YourList/DispForm.aspx?ID=" & [@[ID]], [@[Title]])
    • Or create a calculated column in SharePoint that builds the URL and then apply JSON column formatting to make it clickable.

When you use the Export to Excel option in SharePoint, the exported data typically reflects the current view of the list, which may not include hyperlinks in the Title column. Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature in SharePoint that allows you to export the Title column as hyperlinks directly in the exported Excel file. The titles are exported as plain text by default.

If you need to have hyperlinks in your Excel sheet, you might consider creating a custom solution, such as using Power Automate to automate the export process and format the data accordingly. However, this would require some additional setup and familiarity with Power Automate.

For now, the standard export functionality does not support exporting hyperlinks in the Title column from SharePoint lists to Excel.
