The new Dec 2025 Game Bar keeps stealing focus

My computer rebooted this morning and I had a Game Bar installed. This is not the Xbox Game Bar, but just Game Bar. I have never used or played on an Xbox. I don't mind the tool, but it won't stay hidden. I can't dock it. I can't disable it, I can't uninstall it. It keeps popping up and stealing focus when I'm trying to work with other programs. It is very annoying. Every time I search for Disable Game bar, I get either old Win 10 videos or more recent Xbox Game Bar. Again I don't mind the bar, but if it must be hidden, don't keep popping up. Stay hidden or let me dock or pin it. Right now I'm pulling my hair out.

I have searched the Settings within the Game Bar. I have tried to click on the frame to move, pin, or dock it. In Settings with Widgets it says you can pin a widget, but I don't see how to pin this. Is the game bar a widget, a toolbar, or a launcher?

From what you described, I understand you are experiencing issues with a Game Bar application on your computer that keeps popping up even when you are trying to use other programs.

So far, Windows 11 has not provided options to hide or dock the Game Bar. To prevent it from popping up, try the following suggestions:

Adjust Game Bar app settings

Open Settings > System > System components

Navigate Game Bar

Click the three dots > Advanced options

Set Background component permissions to Never

Click Terminate

Turn off controller access to Game Bar

Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Bar

Toggle off Allow your controller to open Game Bar

Workaround if the issue persists

Open Windows PowerShell as Administrator

Copy and paste the following command, then press Enter:

Get-AppxPackage -PackageTypeFilter Bundle -Name "*Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay*" | Remove-AppxPackage

Note: This should remove Game Bar but note that a future Windows update may reinstall it.
