- Permissions may not have synced yet or were granted via a link only.
- You might be signed in with a different account than the one granted access.
- The sharing link could be expired or broken.
- Conditional Access or MFA policies may block access.
- Browser cache or outdated apps can cause issues.
In the meantime, please try this suggestion, feel free to skip if any steps you have tried before:
1/ Confirm your account: Sign out of all Microsoft accounts and sign back in with the account that was granted access.
2/ Verify the link: Ask the file owner to resend the sharing link and test it in an incognito/private browser window.
3/ Clear cache and update apps
- Clear browser cache and cookies.
- Update OneDrive and Office apps to the latest version.
4/ Check direct permissions: Request the owner to add you under Manage Access > Direct Access in SharePoint, not just via a link.
5/ Review security policies If your organization uses MFA or VPN, ensure you’ve completed authentication and are on a trusted network.
6/ Try alternative access Open the file from the OneDrive app or Teams if shared there.
