If you are unable to open shared files even after access has been approved, there are a few potential causes to consider:

    1. Permissions Issues: Sometimes, permissions may not replicate correctly on the server. Ensure that the file permissions are correctly set and that you have the necessary access rights.
    2. Browser Cache: Clearing your browser cache can resolve issues related to accessing files. Sometimes, outdated or corrupted cache data can prevent proper access.
    3. OneDrive Site Lock: If your OneDrive site is locked, this can also prevent access to shared files. Check if there are any restrictions on your OneDrive site.
    4. Limited-access User Permission Lockdown Mode: If this feature is activated on your OneDrive site, it can restrict access to shared files. Deactivating this feature may help resolve the issue.

To troubleshoot further, you may want to run diagnostics if you have admin access or consult with your IT department for assistance.

    Hi @ASMAR AHMED,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

To ensure we fully understand your situation before starting a thorough investigation, could you clarify a few points?

    1. Are these files stored in SharePoint, OneDrive, or another location within Microsoft 365?
    2. Does the issue occur across all devices or only on a specific computer?
    3. Have you tried accessing the files through both the web browser and the desktop app?
    4. Is this affecting multiple shared files or just one?

While you check these details, here are some steps you can try right away. There are a few common reasons for this issue:

    1. Permissions may not have synced yet or were granted via a link only.
    2. You might be signed in with a different account than the one granted access.
    3. The sharing link could be expired or broken.
    4. Conditional Access or MFA policies may block access.
    5. Browser cache or outdated apps can cause issues.

In the meantime, please try this suggestion, feel free to skip if any steps you have tried before:

1/ Confirm your account: Sign out of all Microsoft accounts and sign back in with the account that was granted access.

2/ Verify the link: Ask the file owner to resend the sharing link and test it in an incognito/private browser window.

3/ Clear cache and update apps

    • Clear browser cache and cookies.
    • Update OneDrive and Office apps to the latest version.

4/ Check direct permissions: Request the owner to add you under Manage Access > Direct Access in SharePoint, not just via a link.

5/ Review security policies If your organization uses MFA or VPN, ensure you’ve completed authentication and are on a trusted network.

6/ Try alternative access Open the file from the OneDrive app or Teams if shared there.

7/ If the issue persists Capture the error message and contact your IT admin to review Conditional Access or Azure AD settings.

We appreciate your kind patience and understanding that sometimes the initial response may not immediately resolve the issue or there may be some misunderstandings about your scenario, but we would love to hear updates from you and find out further suggestions.

    Best Regards.
