    Hi Arun Kamu (LCL)

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Please allow me to provide the following information:

This issue typically occurs when your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings need to be reset, especially after changing devices or reinstalling the Microsoft Authenticator app. Since the new device has not been configured with Authenticator, you are unable to access your account. The app remains linked to your previous device, which is why you are not receiving authentication codes.

Please follow these steps to regain access to your account:

If you are an end user:

In this case, you can contact your tenant administrator to help reset MFA for your account through the Entra Microsoft Admin Center. When you reach out, provide them with the following steps:

    • Step 1: Sign in to Entra Microsoft Admin Center.
    • Step 2: Click Users > All Users > select your account. User's image
    • Step 3: Click Authentication Methods > select Require re-register multifactor authentication. User's image

Once the administrator completes these steps, you will be prompted to set up MFA again during your next sign-in.

If you are the only administrator of the tenant:

In this case, you need to contact Microsoft’s Data Protection team for assistance in resetting MFA for your account.

To contact the Data Protection team, please follow these steps:

    Instructions for the call:

    • Reason for the call: AdminCenter
    • Role: Global Administrator
    • Request Description: Mention the keyword “AdminCenter”
    • If asked whether there is another admin: Answer “No” so you will be directed to the support team and a service request will be created.

Please note: We appreciate your understanding regarding the scope of support provided by this forum. Our role is to offer general guidance and assist with common troubleshooting steps. We do not have access to internal systems or administrative tools required to resolve account-specific or backend-related issues, but we will continue to support you within our responsibilities.

We hope this information is helpful. Please follow the steps above and let us know the outcome. If the issue persists, we will work together to find a solution.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please share your comments so I can continue to support you.

I  look forward to your response.

If you are not receiving push notifications in the Authenticator app after getting a new mobile device, there are a few things you can check:

    1. Authenticator Registration: Ensure that you have registered your account in the Authenticator app on your new mobile device. If you haven't done this, you will not receive any notifications.
    2. Notification Settings: Check the notification settings on your mobile device to ensure that notifications for the Authenticator app are enabled. Sometimes, notifications can be turned off at the device level.
    3. Network Connection: Make sure your mobile device is connected to the internet, as push notifications require an active internet connection.
    4. App Permissions: Verify that the Authenticator app has the necessary permissions to send notifications. You can do this in the app settings on your mobile device.
    5. Temporary Access Pass (TAP): If you are still having issues, consider using a Temporary Access Pass (TAP) if available, as it can help during the registration process.

If you continue to experience problems, you may want to consult your organization's IT support for further assistance.
