Hello Microsoft Support,

I need help with signing in to the Microsoft Store on my Windows 11 laptop. When I try to sign in, I get the error 0x800704cf saying I’m not connected to the internet, but my internet is working.

I have already tried:

Restarting my laptop

Using wsreset.exe

Checking my network

Signing in on the web (which works)

But the Microsoft Store still won’t let me sign in.

Can you please help me fix this issue?

Thank you,

The error 0x800704cf when trying to sign into the Microsoft Store typically indicates a network connectivity issue, even if your internet appears to be working. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    1. Check Network Settings: Ensure that your network settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, incorrect DNS settings can cause connectivity issues.
    2. Reset Network Adapter: You can reset your network adapter by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Status and selecting Network reset. This will remove and reinstall all your network adapters and set other networking components back to their original settings.
    3. Update Network Drivers: Make sure your network drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding your network adapter, right-clicking it, and selecting Update driver.
    4. Disable VPN or Proxy: If you are using a VPN or proxy, try disabling it to see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes, these can interfere with the Microsoft Store's ability to connect.
    5. Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, and run the troubleshooter for Windows Store Apps.
    6. Check Firewall Settings: Ensure that your firewall is not blocking the Microsoft Store. You can check this in Windows Security > Firewall & network protection.

If none of these steps work, you may want to consider reinstalling the Microsoft Store or contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance.

    Dear danylo Hrunda,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating 0x800704cf error in the Microsoft Store on your Windows 11 laptop. It might be a network authentication glitch, often tied to TCP/IP stack corruption, proxy settings, or Store cache troubles.

You could try following these steps below to resolve this:

    1. Run built-in network troubleshooters:
      • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Run Internet Connections and Network Adapter troubleshooters.
      • Open the Microsoft Store and try signing in.
    2. Reset TCP/IP stack and proxy settings:
      • Go to Start, type cmd, right-click at Command Prompt > Run as administrator.
      • Run these commands one by one:
             ipconfig /flushdns
             netsh winsock reset
             netsh int ip reset

      • Restart your laptop then try signing in to the Microsoft Store.
      • If you are using any proxy, add: netsh winhttp reset proxy
    3. Reset or reinstall the Microsoft Store app:
      • First, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Search "Microsoft Store" > Click the three dots > Advanced options > Reset.
      • If that fails, press Windows + X, select Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin). Then run this command:
             Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore | Remove-AppxPackage

      • Restart your laptop then try signing in Microsoft Store.
    4. Switch DNS servers:
      • You could try right-click Start > Network Connections > Right-click your Wi-Fi/Ethernet > Properties.
      • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties > Use the following DNS: Preferred 8.8.8.8, Alternate 8.8.4.4 > OK.
      • Restart network adapter (disable/enable in Device Manager) > Test Microsoft Store sign-in.
    5. Test on another network:
      • Connect to a mobile hotspot or different Wi-Fi to rule out router/ISP blocks.
      • If it works, contact your ISP about port 443 (Store HTTPS) restrictions.

I hope these steps could help. In case my initial reply could not resolve the issue, please let me know and we could do further research.
